Linda Gwatney is the newest member of Collins Wealth Management, having joined the company in January 2023, but she brings decades of experience, Southern charm, and a helpful attitude to her role as client relations associate at the firm. She’s also a lifelong North Carolinian, born in Deep Run and living in Goldsboro since 1979.
Linda began her career with an associate degree in business administration as a switchboard operator at what was then BB&T (now Truist). So, it may be full circle that she is now the friendly voice you hear when you call Collins Wealth Management.
At BB&T, she demonstrated loyalty and leadership qualities and quickly rose through the ranks, working in lending, auditing services, and serving in several bank vice president roles before retiring in 2014 after 38 years with the bank.
After her career in banking, Cheney Brothers offered Linda a part-time position in human relations, where she was responsible for hiring and conducting new personnel orientations. She worked for this company for six years before they moved operations out of Goldsboro.
Having known John Collins for many years, Linda was delighted he offered her the opportunity to join the Collins Wealth Management team and said, “They are all good people and have a good reputation in town. This is a kind place to be. I’m honored and blessed to be here.”
Among her responsibilities include scheduling appointments for John and Tim Fail, preparing reports for account review and client meetings, making bank deposits, maintaining compliance files required by LPL and IFG, keeping in touch with clients, and planning company and client special events.
When she’s not working, Linda enjoys walking for exercise, spending time with her husband, Tommy, Bible study, serving as a Titus 2 Mentor, and as Grow Chair of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Goldsboro. She also enjoys visiting her daughter, son-in-law, and her precious grandchildren and playing Bunco with her friends.
